History

Richard A. Greenall was born in Balgonie on July 17, 1905. He attended school in Balgonie and Regina Collegiate. Richard graduated from Regina Collegiate in 1922. He attended the Regina Normal School in the Fall of 1922 to become a teacher. His teaching career continued until his retirement in 1969. Richard  Greenall gave a total of 46 years of teaching service to the Province. For 26 of these years he served as Principal of Balgonie School and four years as Vice-Principal. Richard served four years as a S.T.F. Councillor and as Secretary Treasurer of the Regina Rural Superintendencecy Association from 1954-1967.

Besides Richard's accomplishments as a teacher, he served the Town of Balgonie as Councillor for nine years, as Mayor for eight years, and as Town Clerk for five years. He also served as a Justice Of The Peace for the Province for many years.

 

On October 31, 1967 Richard A. Greenall received the Dominion Centennial Medal, “In Recognition of Valuable Service To The Nation,” from the Federal Government.

 

Greenall School was named in honor of R​ichard A. Greenall in 1966.​​
